Stone age to Iron age
This half term the children will be learning about the Stone age (history) all the way through to the Iron age. They will learn about British Stone age settlements such as Skara Brae, how Paleolithic humans lived and how the developed into Mesolithic people.
Writing - We will be starting off with a Roald Dahl Week focussing on the book 'The Giraffe and the Pelly and me' where we will be creating a persuasive advert to promote the ladderless window cleaning company. After that writing will focus on the books;
Stone girl Bone girl, producing a diary. completing a short Independent write – Describing a fossil. The Stone age boy and creating a setting description including another short independent write including dialogue dialogue.
Reading comprehensions will be focussed around UG – The boy genius and our class novel will be 'The Odds'
For poetry we will be looking at Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes – Jack and the beanstalk
Maths - We will cover:
Week 1 and 2 – Place value, addition and subtraction
Week 3 – Length and perimeter
Week 4 – Statistics
Week 5 – Addition and Subtraction
Week 6 – Review week
Science
Our science topic is light.
