INTENT STATEMENT

Art is an important subject in our school that is implemented and celebrated throughout our curriculum. The children learn and explore works of art from artists around the world developing ideas to inspire their own creativity and imaginations.  They will be able to think critically and creatively when using a range of materials in producing pictures, collages and 3D sculptures. The Art curriculum has a clear progression throughout school building upon skills throughout each year group. All children are encouraged to reflect and evaluate their work and others. Within our Art curriculum, children will develop resilience, emotional intelligence, pride and self-worth. Emotional intelligence is very important within our school. Art enables children of all abilities to express themselves using their feelings, likes and dislikes. It builds on the children's emotional development, helping them learn about teamwork and consideration for others.
