Appeals

Instruction for Schools - Advice to Appellants

If the appellants have been refused a place at the school and wish to appeal against the decision of governing body, they will need to submit an online application form on the Lancashire County Council public website.

https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/school-appeals/appeal-for-a-school-place/

Please note that the copy of the online application will be received by the relevant school or Pupil Access Team.

  •  Upon receipt of completed online appeal application from parent/carer, schools should then prepare their case
  • Please ensure that each case is only relevant to the child concerned and that you do not refer to another child as part of your case as this will constitute a data breach.
  • Please email completed paperwork ( copy of appeal application form, school case, form B, supporting evidence and Admission Policy for relevant year group) to:

appeals@lancashire.gov.uk

* Preferable format of paperwork is separate pdf file for each pupil/appeal. Please use the pupil's name as the label of the file.

The Appeals Team administers appeals for Academies, Foundation, Voluntary Aided (faith schools), Free Schools, Community Schools and Voluntary Controlled Schools across Lancashire.  The team organises the independent admission appeal panels and co-ordinates the appeals process in accordance with the School Admissions Appeals Code.
