Growing up and Early Career.

What do we know about Carter as a person?

What
adjectives might we use to describe him?

Stubborn,
determined… Refer back to the role on the wall
created in the earlier lesson.

Use fronted adverbials to introduce when and where events occurred (previous learning).

Remember punctuation, capital letters at the start of sentences and for names, remember commas after fronted adverbials and adverbial phrases.

At 17 years old, Carter secured his first job as a tracer
in Egypt…
As a young child, Carter suffered ill health.

Howard’s father, Samuel Carter, taught him to draw from an early age.

Use yesterday’s notes to help write the first two sections of the biography. Fronted adverbials should be used to introduce key dates and information.

There was a man sent from God whose name was John.

He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.

He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
