Writing expectations in Year 1

Children are expected to;

• Write simple sentences using capital letters and full stops.
• Use capital letters for names of people and places
• Use finger spaces correctly
• Link clauses and ideas together using joining words and/but
• Use phonics to spell unknown words
• Write sentences that can be read by themselves or a class peer/teacher
